Occupy Small Street: at Bella’s Consignment Boutique
Posted by Bella's Consignment Boutique in Community
Recently I read an article by Jeanette Mulvey of BusinessNewsDaily that really got me up and cheering. Instead of grabbing a sign and chanting in unison at staged events by “Occupy New York” or “Occupy (insert city here)”; Jeanette came up with another, more meaningful way to bring the money closer to the people.
“Mine would be called: Occupy Small Street. It will focus on redistributing the nation’s wealth by increasing spending at small businesses of all kinds …”
Money spent with local businesses here in Leland NC has a multiplying effect on our local economy and it’s community. The local shopper spends money at their local Leland NC business, whose local owner hires local employees, and both the Leland businesss owner and employees in turn spend their earnings to shop for food, clothes, services and entertainment right here in Leland NC. Money spent online, or with out-of-state owned businesses is siphoned out of the community and does not recirculate among the locals.
“So, while the protesters continue to march and beat their drums, I’ll be protesting in my own way. When we start spending our money where we live, with people who will, in turn, use it to buoy other businesses in the community, we’ll be making a real statement. It might not make the front page of the paper, but it will surely make a difference”
American Express for the second year now is encouraging Americans to “shop small” with Small Business Saturday, to be held Nov. 26, the day after the super sales hit the malls and national chain stores.
So stop by Bella’s Consignment Boutique here in Leland NC and “shop small” with us. You’ll not only bag-a-bargain on designer and name brand woman’s clothing, shoes, jewelry and woman’s accessories, but you’ll be helping support the local economy, boost employment and support the community you and your family work and live in.
Bella’s Consignment Boutique is located at 1107 New Pointe Blvd in Leland NC in the building next to McDonalds on HWY 17, just minutes from downtown Wilmington NC.
